Iain studied sculpture at Bath Academy of Art, and sculpture remains a fundamental part of his practice. He works across sculpture, lettering and drawing. His work concerns the figure in the landscape; making connections between people and places, between the body and the earth. He draws upon experiences of feeling present in the natural world while walking, swimming and cycling, and translates that feeling of connection into tangible objects. He often works with salvaged or found stones, with simple interventions, occasionally including hand-carved text. His work is quiet, meditative, and elemental.
